The average employee spends hours per day on drama. Ego-driven behaviors are the #1 source of drama in workplaces today, and it’s costing organizations billions annually. The philosophy of “perfecting the environment” to create employee engagement just feeds the ego and generates huge amounts of drama and emotional waste.

However, with some practice it is possible to let go of your ego and be more present in your daily life – without having your ego dictating your life in a destructive pattern. The author Eckhart Tolle has written a book called “A New Earth – Awakening to your Life’s Purpose ”, which talks about understanding the ego, but also illustrating how to get rid of ego issues that you are struggling . Our ego is the part of our personality that loves manufacturing 'less than' experiences. Our ego feeds on fear, doubt and pain. The more we attach ourselves to our ego thoughts, the further we move away from our soul truth. Be very clear - your ego is not the real you! It is the polar opposite of who you really are, but it is not your True Self.   Eckhart Tolle, author of A New Earth, explains how to break through the shell that separates you from your true self. Vanity and pride are what most of us tend to think of when we think of ego, but ego is much more than an overinflated sense of self. It can also turn up in feelings of inferiority or self-hatred because ego is any image you have. Ego. The ego wants a destination and it wants to get there. Right now. The work you’re doing here is a journey and it’s a journey taken in very small, manageable steps. Let each step be a destination of its own, if that’s what drives you. Each breath, each moment, each movement you make is your destination.

The ego is only an illusion, but a very influential one. Letting the ego-illusion become your identity can prevent you from knowing your true self. Ego, the false idea of believing that you are what you have or what you do, is a backwards way of assessing and living life. One book that has made me do a double check on my thinking and my Ego is Mindset: The new psychology of success. If you accused me of having a fixed mindset I would not have taken it so well, until I read this book and felt very attacked.
